Sammy the seal
Sammy and the Flying Ring helps children understand why ring-shaped flying toys can be dangerous for seals and other marine animals.
Sammy’s Story
Meet Sammy, an inquisitive young seal who loves exploring the waters around his coastal home, and Sully, his loyal seagull best friend.
When Sammy encounters a discarded flying ring, his curiosity lands him in serious trouble. With a little help from Sully, and some special people along the way, Sammy’s adventure brings together friendship, teamwork and an important lesson for everyone about looking after the wildlife that shares our beaches and seas.
While Sammy’s adventure is fictional, the danger at the heart of his story is very real. Flying rings and similar toys can become dangerous when accidentally left on beaches or lost at sea. Curious seals can become entangled in them, and as they grow, the rings can cause increasingly serious injuries.
